Turkey: Ulamis Ortaokulu


The school has 193 pupils aged 11-15 mostly of lower social and economical background. The students are all from Turkey (one from Syria), but some come from the East Part of Turkey in order that their parents find employment. 11 students get inclusive education; Most of our students are in disadvantagous group;(Exposed to violence, some of their parents are divorced or dead) SCHOOL STAFF AND COVERED PROGRAMME The school has 17 teachers including managers. We provide an exciting, enriched curriculum designed to involve students in making choices about their learning and helps them to develop lifelong learning skills. Students go through extra curricular projects, competitions like acting,sports, etc. SCHOOL MOTIVATION The academic success of our school is very low because of the attitudes of parents, early school leaving, absence problems, bad habits , students being disadavantaged and having no goals for future. We would like to change their mind and think positively and make them believe themselves and gain self-confidence. We’d like to attain them duties during the project in order to broaden their vision, feel themselves responsible as a European Citizen, get concious of future employability. Technology has changed the way we live, the way we work and even how we think. In order to motivate the students for school and overcome these problems, we need to provide innovative and attractive programmes, new teaching tecniques by using 21st Century Key Competences. EXPERIENCES We conducted 2013-1-DE3-COM07-35707-2 ‘HEALTHY FOOD-DEVELOPMENT OF HEALTH CONCIOUS’. Students not only learnt the importance of organic food and sports but also gained self-esteem and self-confidence, feel themselves as a European Citizen. ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE PROJECT We have 9 Etwinning Projects carrying on which of two is about using New Tecnologies-Digital Competences. The aim of ‘21st Century School in Digital Learning’ is to improve students’ competences on language and ICT, get to know other countries curriculum and having fun while using Web 2.00 tools such as Kahoot, Actionbound, Quizlet. ‘Discover the Joyful Life in Creativity ‘ to foster learners' creativity by using some web 2.0 tools and art activities. THE KEY PERSONS İN THİS PROJECT: Mr AKPINAR is the legal representative. He has been involved in many projects. He has certificates on ‘How to Use Fatih Interactive Smart-Board, Using Internet Safely and Conciously’ and 10 more. Mrs GÜNER is the contact person and conducted 2 Comenius and 1 Erasmus + projects. She attended lots of international courses; How to make our school more international (Erasmus+KA101), Competences for 21st Century Schools-Erasmus+ Projects, Flipped learning-Web Collaborative Teaching Web 2.00 tools and 7more. Ms UYSAL is the head of Maths Department.She has certificates on How to Use Interactive Smart-Boards, Developed Countries Education Systems, International Organizations Training Activities. She’s going to run this project if B.Güner needs to leave it.
